大陸新華網上午報導稱，大陸第一艘航空母艦遼寧艦已從山東青島軍港解纜起航，在海軍導彈驅逐艦瀋陽艦、石家莊艦和導彈護衛艦煙台艦、濰坊艦的護航下，前往南海海域開展科研試驗和訓練。

報導說，這是遼寧艦入列後，首次進行跨海區試驗和訓練，目的是檢驗遼寧艦裝備性能；目前，遼寧艦仍處在科研試驗和訓練階段，此次赴南海海域是試驗和訓練計畫內的正常安排。

遼寧艦自2012年9月25日交付海軍一年多來，各項試驗和訓練活動穩步推進，先後完成艦載戰鬥機阻攔著艦和滑躍起飛、駐艦飛行、短距滑躍起飛、艦載機最大重量起降、複雜氣象條件下連續起降、艦載戰鬥機飛行員和著艦指揮員成功通過航母資格認證等試驗與訓練。
