不久前針對開發者釋出預覽版本的Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7，目前也針對一般使用者釋出預覽版本。根據微軟方面表示，除了將在Internet Explorer 11加入更多網頁標準技術，整體瀏覽效能也將提昇30%。

根據微軟IE部落格表示，針對一般使用者正式開放下載Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7預覽版本，將提供提昇約30%左右的網頁瀏覽效能，並且整合更多網頁開放標準。同時如同先前針對開發者所釋出預覽版本，其中也加入開發者工具項目。

先前在微軟Build 2013期間，微軟曾針對Internet Explorer 11主要特性進行說明，並且將在預計釋出更新的Windows 8,1版本中直接搭載此項瀏覽器，其中整合WebGL、Mepg Dash，並且支援新版HTML5網頁開放標準，未來也將加入WebRTC標準。而除了將針對Windows 7釋出對應的Internet Explorer 11版本，之後也將針對Windows Phone、Xbox平台整合新版瀏覽器核心功能。
