【王毓健／綜合報導】臺灣球員在WTA(Women’s Tennis Association，女子職業網球協會)年終總決賽拿下史上首勝！網球一姊謝淑薇搭檔中國名將彭帥，名列大會第2種子，4強戰以7比6(5)、6比2擊敗跨國組合佩卓娃(Nadia Petrova，俄羅斯)／絲瑞波特妮克(Katarina Srebotnik，斯洛維尼亞)，晉級明冠軍戰。
 
臺灣過去還有華僑女將李慧芝、「黃金女雙」詹詠然／莊佳容分別在2002與2007年參加過WTA年終總決賽，但都是首戰敗退。
