黑人女性霍華德　將晉升美軍四星上將

【國際中心／綜合報導】美國參議院昨通過美國總統歐巴馬的任命案，使蜜雪兒霍華德（Michelle Howard）確定將成為美國海軍238年來首位女性四星上將。霍華德預計在明年初晉升海軍作戰部副部長，軍階也將從中將晉升為上將。
 
霍華德是1982年海軍官校畢業生，生涯創下許多第一次紀錄，其中包括她是首位擔任軍艦艦長的黑人女性。馬里蘭大學的軍事組織研究中心主任席格爾說：「黑人在海軍中的代表性不夠，能有一位黑人女性出頭，是體認部隊多元的重要一步。」
