「蕭習會」今天登場，總統府發言人李佳霏傍晚表示，這次前副總統蕭萬長以我方領袖代表身分，與大陸領導人習近平先生會面，「就兩岸關係深入交換意見，對於兩岸制度化交往，具有重大意義」。

李佳霏說，ＡＰＥＣ是近20年來亞太地區最重要的經濟合作論壇。我方領袖代表與中國大陸領導人在對等、尊嚴前提下於APEC會面，已行之有年，對於促進亞洲經濟整合，以區域組織的力量，促成全球經貿發展，以及深化兩岸良性互動與互信，都有相當助益。

李佳霏指出，蕭萬長過去20年間曾以經濟部長、經建會主委身分參與ＡＰＥＣ，經驗豐富。馬總統肯定蕭萬長這次發揮專長，以專業學養與人脈讓各會員體更深入瞭解台灣、提升台灣對亞太經貿的影響力，同時也向國際社會傳達台灣的經貿發展經驗及台灣致力穩定兩岸關係的努力，展現我方積極參與區域經貿整合的決心。
