聖水不潔　86%聖水含有排泄物質

【綜合報導】奧地利維也納醫學大學衛生應用免疫學研究小組，抽取奧地利21處教堂聖水做研究，結果顯示其中有86%的聖水含有穢物，每毫升的聖水中，就含有高達620萬個細菌，越是高人氣的教堂，細菌就越多。
 
報告指出聖水含有大腸桿菌、腸球菌以及弧形桿菌等，飲用的話可能會引發腹瀉，有些聖水甚至含有硝酸鹽類化肥，研究人員表示應呼籲民眾不要再飲用聖水，教堂人員應張貼警告標示，避免信徒飲用不潔的聖水。
 
中古世紀時由於居家用水的水源普遍不潔，常導致民眾生病，那時候的人喝了沒有受汙染的山泉水數天後，病就自然痊癒，讓他們以為這些水是有神力的聖水，但現今研究看來，居家用水的水質，比起聖水，已經還要更安全許多。
